Automate YouTube video uploads, playlists, and channel management

YouTube Integration

The YouTube integration allows you to automate video uploads, update metadata, manage playlists, and retrieve analytics directly from Nodes2Cloud.

How to get credentials

You need to authenticate with a Google account using OAuth.

  1. Add the YouTube node to your workflow.
  2. Select Create New Credential.
  3. Choose the Google OAuth method and click Sign in with Google.
  4. Log in with the Google account associated with your YouTube channel.
  5. Grant the requested permissions for YouTube access.

(Alternatively, you can provide a custom Google OAuth Client ID and Secret if you wish to use your own Google Cloud project).

1. Video Operations

What they do

Manage individual YouTube videos, including uploading new content, updating metadata, or deleting videos.

Available Actions

  • Video: Get: Retrieve metadata for a single video.
  • Video: Get Many by ID: Retrieve metadata for multiple videos.
  • Video: Update: Modify a video's title, description, category, tags, and privacy settings.
  • Video: Delete: Remove a video from your channel.
  • Video: Rate: Add a "Like" or "Dislike" to a video, or remove an existing rating.
  • Video: Upload: Upload a new video file to your channel.

Common Fields

  • Credential: Your Google OAuth credential.
  • Video ID: The 11-character video ID, or a full YouTube URL (e.g., https://youtu.be/dQw4w9WgXcQ). The node will automatically extract the ID.
  • Video File: (For Upload) A File Reference generated by a previous node (e.g., an HTTP Download or Google Drive node).
  • Title / Description: The metadata for the video.
  • Privacy: Choose between Private, Unlisted, or Public.
  • Made for Kids: (Optional) Declare if the video is made for kids, a requirement for COPPA compliance.

2. Channel Operations

Available Actions

  • Channel: Get: Retrieves statistics and metadata for a YouTube channel.

Options / Fields

  • Channel ID: (Optional) The ID of the channel to retrieve. If left blank, it defaults to the channel associated with the authenticated Google account.

3. Playlist Operations

What they do

Create, update, and manage YouTube playlists and the videos within them.

Available Actions

  • Playlist: Create: Create a new playlist.
  • Playlist: Get: Retrieve metadata for a specific playlist.
  • Playlist: List Mine: List all playlists owned by the authenticated account.
  • Playlist: Update: Update a playlist's title, description, and privacy.
  • Playlist: Delete: Delete a playlist.
  • Playlist Item: Add Video: Add a specific video to a playlist.
  • Playlist Item: List: List all videos currently in a playlist.
  • Playlist Item: Remove: Remove a video from a playlist.

Common Fields

  • Playlist ID: The unique identifier of the playlist.
  • Playlist Item ID: (For Remove) The unique ID of the playlist item resource (not the Video ID). You can get this by running the Playlist Item: List action first.

Common Troubleshooting

  • Uploads timing out / failing: Ensure the upstream node providing the video file is successfully downloading the complete file. Nodes2Cloud handles YouTube's resumable upload protocol automatically for large files.
  • Cannot make a video public: If your YouTube channel is new or hasn't verified advanced features, YouTube may restrict your API uploads to "Private" to prevent spam. You may need to verify your channel via phone number in YouTube Studio.
  • Playlist Item Remove fails: Ensure you are passing the Playlist Item ID, not the Video ID. The Playlist Item ID usually looks like a long string of letters and numbers, uniquely identifying that video's placement within that specific playlist.
