AWS (Amazon Web Services)
Connect to S3, DynamoDB, Lambda, SES, SNS, and SQS
AWS Integration
The AWS integration allows you to connect Nodes2Cloud to various Amazon Web Services to trigger serverless functions, manage databases, send emails, and publish messages.
How to get credentials
All AWS nodes require an IAM Access Key.
- Go to your AWS Management Console.
- Navigate to IAM (Identity and Access Management).
- Create a new User (or use an existing one) and ensure they have the necessary permissions (e.g.,
s3:GetObject,lambda:InvokeFunction). - Go to the user's Security credentials tab.
- Click Create access key.
- Copy the Access Key ID and Secret Access Key.
- In Nodes2Cloud, create a new AWS credential and paste these keys.
1. AWS S3: Get Object
What the node does
Retrieves a file (object) from an Amazon S3 bucket.
Options / Fields
- Credential: Your AWS Access Keys.
- Region: The AWS region where your bucket is located (e.g.,
us-east-1). - Bucket: The exact name of your S3 bucket.
- Key: The path and filename of the object (e.g.,
uploads/image.png).
How to set it up
- Provide the Bucket name and Key.
- Run the node to download the file. The output will be a File Reference that can be passed to other nodes (like an email node or a Google Drive upload node).
2. AWS DynamoDB: Put Item
What the node does
Creates a new item or replaces an old item with a new item in a DynamoDB table.
Options / Fields
- Credential: Your AWS Access Keys.
- Region: The AWS region.
- Table Name: The name of the DynamoDB table.
- Item (JSON): The data payload to insert. This should be a standard JSON object (e.g.,
{"id": "123", "status": "active"}). Nodes2Cloud automatically handles marshalling this into DynamoDB's native format.
3. AWS Lambda: Invoke
What the node does
Triggers a serverless AWS Lambda function.
Options / Fields
- Credential: Your AWS Access Keys.
- Region: The AWS region.
- Function Name: The name or ARN of the Lambda function.
- Invocation Type: Usually
RequestResponse(wait for the result) orEvent(fire and forget). - Payload (JSON): The JSON payload to pass into the Lambda function's
eventobject.
4. AWS SES: Send Email
What the node does
Sends a transactional email using Amazon Simple Email Service (SES).
Options / Fields
- Credential: Your AWS Access Keys.
- Region: The AWS region.
- From Email: The sender address (must be verified in SES).
- To Email(s): Comma-separated list of recipient email addresses.
- Subject: The subject line.
- Text Body: The plain text version of the email.
- HTML Body: (Optional) The HTML version of the email.
5. AWS SNS: Publish
What the node does
Publishes a message to an Amazon Simple Notification Service (SNS) topic.
Options / Fields
- Credential: Your AWS Access Keys.
- Region: The AWS region.
- Topic ARN: The full Amazon Resource Name of the SNS topic.
- Message: The text message to publish.
- Subject: (Optional) The subject line when the message is delivered to email endpoints.
6. AWS SQS: Send Message
What the node does
Delivers a message to an Amazon Simple Queue Service (SQS) queue.
Options / Fields
- Credential: Your AWS Access Keys.
- Region: The AWS region.
- Queue URL: The full HTTP URL of your SQS queue.
- Message Body: The contents of the message (usually a JSON string).
Common Troubleshooting
- InvalidSignatureException: This usually means your Access Key ID or Secret Access Key is incorrect, or you selected the wrong Region. Double-check your credential and region settings.
- AccessDenied: Your IAM user does not have the required permissions. Ensure you have attached the necessary policies (like
AmazonS3ReadOnlyAccessorAWSLambdaRole) to the IAM user in AWS. - DynamoDB ValidationException: Ensure the JSON you provide to
Put Itemincludes the required Partition Key (and Sort Key, if applicable) for your specific table schema.
