Automate Notion pages, databases, and blocks
Notion Integration
The Notion integration allows you to read, create, and update pages and blocks within your Notion workspace.
How to get credentials
You need an Internal Integration Token from Notion.
- Go to Notion's My Integrations page.
- Click New integration.
- Name your integration and select the associated workspace.
- Click Submit and copy the Internal Integration Secret.
- In Nodes2Cloud, create a new Notion credential and paste this secret.
- Crucial Step: You must explicitly share specific Notion pages or databases with your integration. In Notion, go to the page/database, click the three dots
...in the top right, select Add connections, and search for your integration name.
1. Page Operations
Available Actions
- Page: Create: Creates a new page. You can create it as a sub-page of another page, or as a new row in a database.
- Page: Get: Retrieves the properties of a specific page.
- Page: Update: Modifies the properties (e.g., database columns) of an existing page.
Common Fields
- Page ID / Database ID: The unique identifier for the parent page or database (usually a 32-character alphanumeric string found in the URL).
- Properties (JSON): When creating or updating pages in a database, you must provide the properties as a JSON object matching Notion's property schema (e.g.,
{"Name": {"title": [{"text": {"content": "Hello"}}]}}).
2. Block Operations
Available Actions
- Block: Append: Appends new content blocks (like text, headings, or lists) to the bottom of a specific page or parent block.
Options / Fields
- Block ID: The ID of the parent block or page.
- Children (JSON): An array of block objects formatted according to the Notion API.
3. Search
Available Actions
- Search: Searches all pages and databases your integration has been granted access to. You can filter by object type (
pageordatabase).
Common Troubleshooting
- 404 Not Found / Cannot find page or database: Your integration token is correct, but you forgot to share the specific page/database with the integration. Go to the page in Notion ->
...->Add connections-> select your integration. - 400 Bad Request on Properties: Notion is extremely strict about the JSON structure for properties. Ensure your JSON perfectly matches their Property values reference.
